Sitting on a lawn chair that he'd propped at the edge of the lake, Belial waits with a fishing rod in his hand. His Mienshao stands beside him, eyes ever vigilant as he scans the rippling waters.

They were hunting a fish today, right? So why didn't they just nuke the whole lake? That'd make this a whole lot easier.

Down below them, the lake was a beautiful, placid stretch of blue. Every now and then a Magikarp would bubble to the surface after an errant bug or fallen leaf, sending ripples cascading across the glasslike reflection. Anatida’s own mirror image was a white shadow swirling in circles through the clouds.

Cyg had to admit she was mildly addicted to flying. The feeling of freedom, being up in the air, with the woosh of the wind and Anatida’s concerto of irritated honks as the background noise. It was enthralling-- like living in a dream.

But of course, all dreams must end.

With a loud, trumpet-like cry, Anatida dropped her head and fell into a spiraling free dive. Cyg yelped and dug her fingers into the swan’s shoulders, head snapping back with the whiplash. “Ana, no!” she grunted, managing to wrap one arm around the bird’s neck and yank upwards, pulling her level with the water surface like a pilot righting a diving plane.

They came to the same bank as Belial Stone , Anatida deploying her large webbed feet like landing gear. Cygne slid off her back, holding the swan’s head in her hands to keep her fierce, weapon-like beak at arms length.

“We’re supposed to protect the Magikarp, dummy,” she grumbled, “not eat them!”

Belial squints at the sight of something nosediving from way on high. Chai, too, looks up to see the large swan sharply have itself steered upwards by its rider. The two watch with mild fascination as they eventually land on the same bank the two have posted themselves on.

Belial chuckles at the blonde's reprimand. "Hey there! I didn't know they were sending back-up." He smirks, reaching over the left arm of his lawn chair to open a small ice bin and grab a can. He holds it up for the female to see, still holding his fishing rod in the other hand.

"Nice flying. Want a beer?"

But, suddenly, something yanks on his fishing rod so hard that the man gets dragged rather unceremoniously into the lake. The beer goes flying in the air as a result. But, surprisingly, the man doesn't let go of his fishing rod and is pulled underwater as something rages within.

Oh my god... is he going to drown?

He says the word back-up like she’s an extra clown at a child’s birthday party. Anatida gets distracted by something shiny on the ground, and Cyg releases her hold on the bird. “Yeah, well. I kept bothering them for a job and I can be pretty annoying when I want to be. I don’t know what you did to piss them off,” she says, turning to Belial Stone , only half-joking, “but I’m probably your punishment.” [break][break]

She almost dies when she sees the beer. “Oh, yes, please.” She reaches for the can just as Belial jerks and is suddenly gone, into the water with a splash. “Shit! Fuck!” Cyg says, deeply saddened at the loss of her beverage. She wonders if there’s more in the cooler… no, Cygne, focus. [break][break]

She whips around and grabs Anatida by the neck, leaping onto her back. The swan gives an irritated squawk as Cyg threads her fingers through the feathers on her back and yells “Dive!” [break][break]

Aiming at the water like a missile, Ana waddles-sprints forward, then shoots into the lake. All the ungainliness on land disappears immediately as she is a blade through the water. Cyg, safely secured within the Dive bubble, spots the shape of Belial being dragged downwards; she points Anatida in his direction, and calls out Laurentina. Cyg jabs a finger at Belilal, and the Luvdisc bolts off, even faster than Anatida. [break][break]

They reach Belial in short notice; Cyg grabs his shoulders and hauls his head and neck into the radius of Anatida’s dive bubble, hoping to give him access to oxygen. Laurentina swings wide of him, aiming an aqua jet at whatever is up ahead, grabbed onto his pole. [break][break]

His fishing pole.[break][break]

Get your head out of the gutter, Cygne. [break][break]

Unbeknownst to Cygne, Belial was starting to get used to being Team Rocket's resident errand boy and babysitter. The mercenary captain and his company were being paid well to fill the void, anyway. Though the validity of such an idea is, understandably, questionable after he gets reeled into the lake like some child.

The world becomes a realm of deep dark blue and rampant bubbles to the man for a while. As he struggles to reach and unclip the Pokéball at his hip, however, he continues to grip onto his fishing rod with the other, as bewildered eyes try to discern the identity of his would-be captor. And, just as he realizes what it is, he feels a very human hand pull him backward.

Belial gasps and chokes on a cough for a moment as water exits his lungs and air fills it. He releases his fishing rod in the meantime, and laughs when his chest is capable of doing so without choking again. "The legends were true... there's a fucking monster in this lake!" He says, shaking his head.

And, unfortunately for her LUVDISC, she had just bought a front-row ticket to the BASCULEGION's teeth (BITE).

Cygne hadn’t seen a whole lot of highly-active combat and, until now, hadn’t witnessed any of her Pokemon getting severely injured. But watching Laurentina’s tiny, rose-colored body be eclipsed by Basculegion’s massive, black-hole of a maw made her see fucking red. [break][break]

Belial, the object of tug-and-war that he is, is laughing and gasping for air, and Cyg is kind of digging her fingers into the wells of his shoulders to hold onto him. She grabs Feldspar’s Pokeball and all but smashes it onto Anatida’s back. The sleepy Grookey appears in a blast of white light, but Cyg snatches him up mid-yawn and points him at Basculegion. “Use razor leaf!” she orders, and the Grookey shakes the sleep from his eyes with a hooh-HAH and jumps to attention; his eyes glower green and there’s a whooshing noise in the water as knife-like leaf projectiles slice through it and dig themselves into the top of Basculegion’s crested head. A choice one stabs into its eyeball and it opens its mouth to roar in pain; Laurentina uses that opportunity to wiggle free, and Cyg recalls her, leaving a trail of red blood drifting in the water. [break][break]

Belial releases hold of his fishing pole and, with a big jerk, Cyg drags him fully onto her Swanna’s back. “Fuck this fucking fish,” she snarls, one arm wrapped around Belial’s chest underneath his arms. “Ana, use tailwind. Feld, keep hitting it!” With a wiggle of her nubbin tail, the Swanna conjures up an air-powered current of water that sends them zipping around Basculegion in chaotic loops, while Feldspar rains razor leaves down upon the massive fish like a chimp-powered gattling gun. [break][break]

[break][break]> cyg is PYSSED [break]> grookey uses razor leaf on basculegion[break]> cyg pulls belial completely up onto her swanna and is, like, holding him behind her, so his feets are probably dangling out of the dive bubble & into the water[break]> anatida uses tailwind to zoom them around basculegion and feldspar is still peppering it with razor leaf[break][break]

It really does play like a scene straight out of some monster movie. If that's the case, then Belial supposes the blonde saving his skin right now is his 'Sigourney Weaver'. She certainly acts the part as she orchestrates a machine gun-like barrage from above.

Shifting in his seat atop the Swanna, and wrapping his arms around said woman (strictly for balance, sure), he props his chin on her shoulder and smiles. "Hey, what's your name anyway, hero? If this thing eats us we should at least know each others."

Meanwhile, said 'thing' roared underwater with great rage. A WAVE CRASH emerged out from the sea as a result, threatening to devour them like a tsunami and drag them back down to the dark and dangerous depths below.

She feels Belial wrap an arm around her waist and the very small lucid part at the back of her brain that is not currently seeing red facepalms a bit. She must look very, very attractive right now, with her hair all whipped up and knotty from essentially falling off her Swanna to the way her face is probably twisted up into a look of pure wrath.

Oh, god, was he hitting on her right now?

Luckily she was focused on other things right now, like turning Basculegion into sashimi, or she might have turned beet red and forgotten how to utilize the English language. She spiraled around the thing like an underwater Ophanim, peppering its thick hide with knife-sharp leaves.

“Cygne,” she managed to spit out, just as the air-- water-- around them echoed with Basculegion’s ancient and powerful voice. Its ornate green and red form became shrouded in water and it was there one second and gone the next. Panic swept through Cyg and she jerked up on Ana’s ‘driving feathers’, causing the tailwind-pushed Swanna to shoot straight up out of the water; Ana’s dive bell burst like a pressurized bubble and seconds behind them the air was being eaten up by the massive water-wrapped form of Basculegion.

“Arceus hotsauce christmas cake,” Cyg muttered, wrapping one arm around Feldspar and using the other to grip Belial’s forearm, “hold on! Ana, use hurricane!”

Anatida gave a violent squawk and splayed her wings, legs, feet, feathers, everything and pointed the attack downward. A violent, spinning funneled mass of air began to whip between the bottom of her body and the rising Basculegion-- who flew right into the attack. The water it had gathered for it’s wave crash was stripped from around it like clothing after a night of drinking; with a forceful heave, Cyg jerked Anatida to the side towards shore, and the swan’s hurricane went in the same direction, launching Basculegion not upwards, but to the right, aiming to beach the beast on land where they could make short work of it.

Ana’s wings began to shake so Cyg directed her towards solid ground, where they could dismount, and the Swanna could get a rest.

A gust of wind and water forces him to hold tight and shut up for a moment as her Swanna makes an evasive maneuver. Frankly, he's not used to (or all that comfortable) being the rescued. But his rescuer is a knockout, so he can bear it for a little while longer.

The fact that she curses so openly is a plus.

"Woah!" He awes as they blow the BASCULEGION out of the water. As their ride descends upon the shore, Belial releases her from his arms and slides off the swan's smooth back before effortlessly landing on his feet. "That was one hell of a ride... can we go again?" He smirks.

Meanwhile, nearby, CHAI the MIENSHAO beats the sea monster belly up with a several DRAIN PUNCH.
